Kincoppal-Rose Bay
AI Search Visibility Report

Families researching Sydney girls’ schools increasingly ask ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google’s AI answers to build the shortlist before they ever open a school website. This audit shows what those engines can and cannot find about Kincoppal-Rose Bay today, how that compares with Ascham, Kambala, Cranbrook and SCEGGS, and what to fix first.

Executive Summary

Kincoppal-Rose Bay is not blocked, penalised or technically broken in any way an AI engine would punish. The authority is already there. What is missing is the crawlable, first-party content those engines need in order to name the school, and there is one server fault quietly removing the most valuable pages from view.

Discovery searches where krb.nsw.edu.au appears at all

The headline finding is not a marketing problem. Twenty-two of your twenty-two announcement pages, every one of them submitted to search engines in your own sitemap, return a server error and serve an empty page. They include Now Enrolling for 2027, Discovery Mornings, the Boarding Information Session, the Kindergarten 2027 Information Morning, the Year 10 High Performance Scholarship and the Congratulations to the HSC Class of 2025 post. These are the exact pages a prospective family, a search engine and an AI model would all use to answer “is this school enrolling, and how is it performing?”

Critical Gaps Identified

01 · Your enrolment pages return an error

All 22 /announcement/ URLs in krb.nsw.edu.au/sitemap.xml return HTTP 500 with an empty body, to both browsers and AI crawlers. Of 274 URLs in the sitemap, 251 work and 23 do not. Every broken one is an announcement or gallery page, including the 2027 enrolment and HSC 2025 results posts.

02 · Wikipedia files you under a name you stopped using in 1971

The article AI engines resolve to is titled “Kincoppal School”. A search for the official name, Kincoppal-Rose Bay School of the Sacred Heart, returns no article and no redirect. The article also carries 28 references, against Ascham’s 72 and Cranbrook’s 46. When a model is asked to describe the school, this is the page it leans on.

03 · Your site never tells a machine it is a school

krb.nsw.edu.au publishes structured data for WebSite and Organization only, with no address and no verified social profiles. Kambala and Monte Sant’ Angelo both declare @type: ["School","Organization"]. Your admissions, fees and enrolment pages carry only breadcrumb markup, and there is no FAQ markup anywhere on the site.

04 · The good news: nothing is blocking you

Your robots.txt blocks no AI crawler, and GPTBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot all receive a normal 200 response from your homepage. Your Domain Rating of 33 is second only to Kambala in this comparison set. The ceiling here is content and structure, both of which are fixable without a rebuild.

What the AI Engines Can Actually Reach

Before asking what the engines say, it is worth checking what they are able to read. We requested your homepage as each major AI crawler and compared the response with a normal browser, then did the same for five competitors.

SCEGGS Darlinghurst200200200200404No
Monte Sant’ Angelo200200403 blocked200404Yes

Verified 18 September 2026 by requesting each homepage with the published crawler user agents. No school in this set publishes an llms.txt file.

Access is not your problem

Every AI crawler we tested reaches your site normally. That matters, because the most common cause of an invisible school is a firewall quietly turning these crawlers away. Yours does not.

Reachable is not the same as quotable

A model reads your homepage and finds no <h1> heading, no school-type structured data, and a news feed that makes up roughly three quarters of the site. It has very little it can state as fact about curriculum, boarding, fees or results.

The whole sector is early

Not one of the six schools publishes an llms.txt, and only two describe themselves as a school in structured data. This is an open field rather than a race you are behind in, which is exactly why acting this year is worth something.

The Searches Families Actually Run

We ran the discovery searches a family uses when they do not yet have a shortlist, and recorded which schools were returned and whether krb.nsw.edu.au appeared at all. These were run from a US-based index, so treat them as directional for a Sydney family, and as an accurate read of which sources the engines trust.

QueryWho appearedKRB
“best girls school Sydney eastern suburbs”Kambala is the only school named in a result title (via a Sydney Morning Herald piece)Not present except through a property blog describing KRB as costing “more than $50,000 a year”

“Sydney girls school international students CRICOS”PLC Sydney, using its own dedicated CRICOS pageAbsent
“Kincoppal-Rose Bay vs Ascham”Wikipedia first, then KRB, then Whirlpool forums, Good Schools Guide, Better EducationPosition 2 on your own name

Run 18 September 2026. Sources the engines lean on across these queries: Wikipedia, goodschools.com.au, bettereducation.com.au, compareprivateschools.com.au and parent forums.

The pattern

On the two searches where Kincoppal-Rose Bay has the strongest real-world claim, boarding and international families, the school does not appear at all. On the general “best girls school” searches, third-party directories and a property blog speak on your behalf. Your own words appear on one query out of six.

What this is not

This is not a ranking penalty and it is not about being outspent. Every school in this set earns about 95% of its search traffic from people typing the school’s own name. The entire eastern suburbs group is close to invisible on the questions families ask before they know which schools exist. The first school to answer those questions properly takes the position.

How You Compare

Authority, content footprint and academic results for the schools families weigh against Kincoppal-Rose Bay. The gap is not reputation and it is not results. It is how much of each school is written down in a form a machine can read and repeat.

Cranbrook322134,78748Yes
Ascham31822,02912Yes
SCEGGS Darlinghurst273195721Yes

Ahrefs, Australia index, 18 September 2026. HSC ranks from Better Education’s 2025 NSW school table (bettereducation.com.au). KRB: 33.8% of exams at Band 6 or equivalent, 102 students, 628 exams.

You are climbing, and almost nobody can see it

Kincoppal-Rose Bay moved from 50th in the state in 2023 to 69th in 2024 and 35th in 2025, ahead of Kambala and Cranbrook this year. That result currently sits in a news post rather than on a permanent academic results page, so it is hard for a search engine to treat it as a lasting fact about the school, and it is invisible to a family who arrives next year.

Cranbrook shows what a content footprint does

Cranbrook has lower authority than you (DR 32 against your 33) yet ranks for 213 keywords and takes roughly 4,787 organic visits a month, nearly three times yours. The difference is volume of useful, indexed pages, not brand strength.

Your fees are readable, but not quotable

Your fees sit in a real HTML table, which is better than Kambala, Cranbrook or Monte, who publish PDFs only, and better than Ascham, who publish nothing. But your table carries no year label and no boarding row, so an engine cannot safely say what a 2026 Kincoppal-Rose Bay education costs. Boarding at $38,772 exists only inside a PDF. SCEGGS and Loreto Kirribilli both publish year-labelled HTML tables.

Top 3 Quick Wins

Ranked by how much they change what an AI engine can say about the school, against how long they take. None of these needs a new website.

1. Fix the 23 pages returning a server error

High Impact

Every /announcement/ URL in your sitemap serves an empty error page, including Now Enrolling for 2027, Discovery Mornings, the Boarding Information Session and the HSC Class of 2025 post. Until this is fixed, your most enrolment-critical content cannot be read by a family, a search engine or an AI model. Your web team can confirm it in a minute by opening any one of them.

Timeline: 1 day for your developer

2. Claim your own name at entity level

High Impact

Add School structured data with your address, CRICOS code and verified social profiles, so the site states plainly what it is. Then correct the Wikipedia situation, where the official school name has no article and the existing one sits under the pre-1971 “Kincoppal School” title with the fewest references of the major eastern suburbs girls’ schools. These two together are what let an engine describe you confidently.

Timeline: 1 to 2 weeks

3. Build the three pages you do not have

High Impact

A permanent academic results page carrying the 2025 HSC outcome, a boarding page written for the question “which Sydney girls’ schools offer boarding, and what does it cost”, and an international families page built around your CRICOS registration. Add the year and the boarding row to the fees table. These are the four questions the engines were asked in Section 03, and the four you currently do not answer.

Timeline: 2 to 4 weeks

Website & Technical Health

Smaller items we noticed while auditing the site. None is urgent on its own, and together they are a morning’s work for whoever maintains the site.

No H1 heading on the homepage

The homepage carries eleven <h2> headings and no <h1>. The single strongest signal of what a page is about is missing from your most important page.

Last year’s fee schedule still linked

The admissions page still links a PDF titled “2025 Schedule of Fees, International”, while the fees page links the 2026 version. A family, or a model, can easily quote the wrong one.

Two content errors worth correcting

The international boarding page says students study “at KRM”, and the enrolment page says the school spans “more than 138 years”, while your own history page dates the school to 1882, which is 144 years. Small inconsistencies like these are exactly what models repeat.

Site balance

Of 274 pages, 107 are alumnae stories, 50 are news and 28 are principal’s blog posts, against 9 admissions pages and 6 boarding pages. The archive is an asset, but the pages that answer enrolment questions are outnumbered roughly twenty to one.

Speed is fine

The homepage returns in about one second with 39 scripts on the page. No action needed, and worth saying, since speed is often blamed for problems that are really about content.

Server software is out of date

The site reports PHP 7.4, which stopped receiving security updates in November 2022, and is the only school in this set publishing its version. One to pass to whoever hosts the site.

Where This Could Go

The first item in Section 05 is worth doing this week whether or not you ever speak to us again, and your own team can do it. The rest is a short, defined programme rather than an open-ended retainer.

Start with the 30-minute walkthrough

We will open the broken pages live, show you the Wikipedia and structured-data findings, and hand over the full list of 23 failing URLs so your developer can fix them immediately. No charge and no obligation.

If you want help with the rest

Our AI visibility starter programme runs 90 days: entity and structured-data foundations, the missing boarding, international and results pages, third-party profile corrections, and monthly reporting on which engines start naming the school. We would scope and price it after the walkthrough, not before.

Why this matters now

Australian schools enrolled 27,027 full-fee overseas students in 2025, the highest since 2019 and up 3.7% on the year, and those families research almost entirely online before contacting a school. Kincoppal-Rose Bay holds CRICOS registration and on-campus boarding, two things most of your competitors cannot match, and neither is currently visible where those families are looking.
